Spring Massive: Truly a Massive Weekend
Massive. That’s really the only appropriate way to describe what Steez Promo, one of the premier electronic music promotion companies on the East Coast, has created for themselves. Every Spring, Summer, and Fall, Steez Promo pulls out all the stops and hosts an all out sensory vendetta at Baltimore’s Bourbon Street, which holds a massive 2,800 person legal capacity.
Steez Promo, who has thrived on their ability to give their audience exactly what they want, took this past weekend (March 11-13) to bring an onslaught of EDM entertainment to the DMV area. The first night of Massive took place in Richmond, VA, while Saturday and Sunday took place in Baltimore, MD. Boasting over 50+ DJ’s (who are listed at the bottom of the article) performing in four different areas of the club, Steez Promo successfully threw another sold out Massive event. If you weren’t there, you absolutely missed out.
The aura of Massive events as well as all Steez Promo events in general is about good vibes. It’s about partying, having a good time, and looking out for one another.
The inside of this past weekend’s events looked like a neon day-glo version of a tribal gathering. There were people in bright colors, wearing glow sticks, masks, costumes, and just about anything else you can imagine. There were light up hula hoopers, people wearing LED finger gloves, and various other light up toys that audience members used to express themselves in conjunction with the music. The DJ’s hypnotized their audience with heavy bass rumbling the walls. The reaction is carnal and has an energy that is unmatched.
These events are unlike anything else I’ve ever witnessed. It doesn’t matter who you are and there is no sense of self when you’re there. You can be as subdued or dance as wildly as you like; in fact it’s encouraged. The only rule is to have respect for each other and be safe.
It may all seem like a strange concept to grasp, but I assure you the atmosphere is welcoming to everyone. If you haven’t been to one of these events, I highly recommend checking them out. There’s plenty of love to go around.
